Recycling Ceiling Tiles

Requirements for Recycling Ceiling Tile

What ceiling tiles can be recycled?

  • Types of ceiling material comprising: Approved Ceiling Material
  • All brands of pulpable mineral fiber ceiling tile materials (panel or tile form. Metal splines must be removed from tiles.)
  • Optima (Armstrong fiberglass only)
  • Painted nubby

Non-acceptable Ceiling Materials:

  • Vinyl or Fabric face ceiling materials*
  • Foil backed ceiling materials*
  • Ceiling materials with visible wood pulp
  • Armstrong Artran (cardboard like face)
  • Moldy or weathered ceiling materials
  • Asbestos containing ceiling materials
  • Ceiling materials installed below friable asbestos or contaminated with any other hazardous material.
  • Ceiling materials with paint not applied by manufacturer
  • Ceiling materials not packaged according to Armstrong Specifications
  • Ceiling materials which contain visible debris (garbage, construction waste)
  • Vinyl Gypsum ceiling
